Remembering Martin Luther King Jr. who was killed 50 years ago today. The night before he was assassinated King delivered one of the most moving speeches he'd ever given, one that seemed to anticipate his death. But what I remember is his saying; "Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation." It's time to redouble our efforts to live up to his dream.

Elvis Presley: A Moment In Time - 4 Days in '56

In the Spring of 1956, Elvis was on the cusp of becoming a national story. LOOK magazine sent a writer and photographer to cover the last leg of his tour. They met him in Detroit and covered his concerts at the “fabulous” Fox Theater.

Elvis had sparked a riot the night before in Kansas City that was described by a reporter Bill Moore as “sustained pandemonium.” Which was fitting for the “atomic powered singer” said Moore. The team from LOOK didn’t know what to expect.
