In the Spring of 1956, Elvis was on the cusp of becoming a national story. LOOK magazine sent a writer and photographer to cover the last leg of his tour. They met him in Detroit and covered his concerts at the “fabulous” Fox Theater.
Elvis had sparked a riot the night before in Kansas City that was described by a reporter Bill Moore as “sustained pandemonium.” Which was fitting for the “atomic powered singer” said Moore. The team from LOOK didn’t know what to expect.
